Despite the carnage the Western world has unleashed on Iraq there remains a grass roots resistance that we at home rarely hear about, one that actively, non-violently organises to resist oppressive forces and which refuses to be ‘pacified’ by decades of imperialist domination. Collateral Damage seeks to express that spirit. The mother’s defiance is palpable as she holds aloft her dead child to the world. Alongside her unspeakable grief is a refusal against all odds, to be a victim. The Iraqi people will never accept defeat.
